Improving Lives Through the Human-Animal Connection
The Institute for Veterinary Healthcare Improvement (IVHI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health, well-being, and quality of life of animals, people, and communities.
We believe that animals have an extraordinary ability to bring comfort, connection, companionship, and positive change into people’s lives. Through education, community outreach, animal-assisted programs, and innovative healthcare initiatives, IVHI works to create meaningful opportunities where people and animals can positively impact one another.
Our Mission
The mission of the Institute for Veterinary Healthcare Improvement (IVHI) is to improve the health, well-being, and quality of life of animals, people, and communities through education, innovation, collaboration, and compassionate healthcare initiatives.
IVHI supports programs that strengthen the human-animal bond and promote the positive impact animals can have on individuals and communities. This includes developing and supporting therapy and assistance animal programs that provide comfort, companionship, education, and emotional support to people of all ages.
Our programs may include outreach to:
- Senior living communities and elderly individuals
- Schools and educational programs
- Veterans and their families
- First responders and their families
- Hospitals and healthcare facilities
- Individuals experiencing emotional or social challenges
- Community organizations and nonprofit partners
- Individuals and families who benefit from the human-animal connection
Through partnerships with veterinary professionals, educators, healthcare providers, animal organizations, and community leaders, IVHI seeks to develop programs that make a lasting difference.
The Power of the Human-Animal Bond
Animals can provide companionship, reduce feelings of isolation, encourage social interaction, and create opportunities for learning and connection.
Our vision is to help bring these benefits to more people in our community.
Imagine a child learning to interact safely and compassionately with a therapy dog, a senior receiving an unexpected visit from a gentle companion animal, or a veteran finding comfort through a specially trained service or therapy dog.
These moments can be simple, but their impact can be profound.
Therapy & Community Outreach
One of IVHI’s goals is to develop and support animal-assisted outreach programs that bring appropriately trained animals into community settings.
Potential programs include:
Therapy Dog Visits
Senior living communities
Schools
Hospitals and healthcare facilities
Community events
Veterans’ organizations
First responder organizations
These visits are intended to provide companionship, comfort, encouragement, and positive social interaction.
Education & Schools
Responsible animal care
Compassion and empathy
Animal behavior and safety
The human-animal bond
Veterinary medicine and animal health
Careers involving animals and healthcare
Veterans & First Responders
IVHI also recognizes the important role animals can play in supporting veterans, law enforcement, firefighters, EMTs, and other first responders.
Our initiatives may include support for service-animal and therapy-animal programs designed to provide companionship, assistance, and meaningful connections for individuals who have dedicated themselves to serving others.
Supporting Our Community
Our vision extends beyond any single program.
As IVHI grows, we hope to develop partnerships and initiatives that address emerging needs within our community and create additional opportunities for animals to positively impact people’s lives.
How You Can Help
IVHI is supported through charitable contributions, community partnerships, fundraising, and individuals who believe in the power of the human-animal connection.
Your support can help us develop programs that bring therapy animals into schools and senior communities, support animal-assisted initiatives, provide educational opportunities, and expand programs serving veterans, first responders, families, and communities.
