VETERINARY ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY – Orthopedic surgery involves bones, joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Fractured bones and torn ligaments are some of the most common injuries seen by the veterinary surgeon. In many cases, there are multiple injuries to the pet often as the result of trauma. Advanced techniques including the use of steel plates and screws, or elaborate bone pin and clamp systems are required to adequately stabilize these injuries so that the pet can heal normally. PLATELET RICH PLASMA – Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) begins from removing the red blood cells in whole blood. A sample of it can be taken and then spun down using a centrifuge, leaving only platelets behind for treatment. The leftover concentrate is called PRP and is used to promote healing, reduce inflammation, and can even be used to heal bone fractures.
ULTRASONOGRAPHY – Ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging method used to study the internal body structures such as the abdominal organs, the heart, the tissues right under the skin such as a mass, or even the eyeball. Ultrasound works by sending out high frequency waves of sound (high enough that our human and animal ears can’t even hear them, thus the name “ultra-sound”) into the tissues using a ‘probe.’ The harmless waves of sound are either reflected off of the tissues as they hit them, or travel through them at different speeds depending on the density of the tissues. The sound or “echo” that returns to the probe is converted by the ultrasound machine into an image, with each tissue type having a different appearance than its neighboring tissue. LEARN MORE
ENDOSCOPY – Endoscopy is a nonsurgical procedure that operates a flexible tool called an endoscope. The endoscope is a specific tool that allows veterinarians to see inside your pet’s’ body in a minimally invasive way. Endoscopy allows veterinarians to provide better and earlier diagnosis, making it a valuable tool to modern veterinary medicine. Endoscopic procedures are used in a variety of different ways for several conditions, such as a foreign body removal and intestinal biopsy.
STEM CELL THERAPY – Stem cells have been proven to help animals in treating tendon, ligament injuries, and joint diseases, with significant clinical relevance in dogs in orthopedic conditions. This procedure is a regenerative process that allows your pet to better cope with their changing bodies. Stem cells hold enormous promise for medical treatment because they can take on the qualities of all kinds of cells and then replicate many times over. LEARN MORE
